 Author Bio

Nessie is a Massachusetts native and mother of two who has dabbled in everything from abstract painting to freelance sports reporting. She also loves a good story, whether it's reading or writing one. Active membership in a writer's critique group has helped erase the memory of two horribly written practice novels.

My Thoughts:

 DNF 85%

I will start by saying that I am little emotional at the moment. Not only was this book pretty damn heart-breaking but the ending has left me a little ticked off to put it mildly. This book started out so strongly. Its just one of those books that stuck you in from the very first chapter. I loved all of the characters. Jen was the type of snarky, sassy, no-one-stand-in-my-way characters that I love and Jack easily stole my heart with his witty remarks, charming personality and badass vibes. I was easily enamoured by the world and the characters and the romance... and then the paranormal stuff happened and all hell broke lose.

I knew from the blurb and title something like this was going to happened but I honestly just forgot. For about 65% of the book this is solidly a contemporary romance book. There wasn't a single mention of ghosts or any shady characters that you knew were going to be "revealed" as vampires or anything like that at all. When were are struck with the paranormal angles. I could have dealt with the ghosts parts. While its a little clichéd the whole I-want-to-stay-and-protect-[insert lover's name here] thing would have been perfect but the zombie aspect?

It honestly ruined it for me. I cannot bare to read anymore of it. I know the ending is going to break my heart because it already has. I don't like the way the characters changed and I hate reading about them going through this whole horrible ordeal. I don't want to read the end. I cannot stand knowing what would happen so I am going to leave it as it is. The first part was amazing and that's how I want to remember it.
